CHINA’S TIK-TOC POSEURS
From Xian to Kashgar, all along the northern Silk Road in China women, mostly young girls, dress up to be photographed for posting on social media. Often a professional photographer and a stylist are hired. The dresses too are hired and hair and makeup professionally done. Tik Toc is the favoured site, Instagram not being available in China. Often the temperatures were around the high 30 degree C mark.
Along the northern Silk Road in China there is little to see in terms of significant historical artifacts, most of it having been destroyed down the ages and latterly during the Cultural Revolution. Although some of it has been rebuilt the sites are very popular and cater for a large number of tourists with tourist centers, reception areas and enormous carparks. Entertainment is often provided by costumed dancers preforming the local cultural dances.
